Description:
Participants will learn the basics of how to evaluate a variety of foods - typically in the context of judging at county fairs.  Topics will include identifying the model characteristics of food items as well as some of the characteristics of sub-standard products.  Karen Blakeslee will offer her personal and professional insights during this experiential learning opportunity.  Participants will be able to evaluate food samples and ask questions throughout the process.  The program is hosted by Deb Andres, FCS Agent, Geary County K-State Research and Extension.
Target Audience:
FCS professionals, county and club 4-H leaders, and anyone interested in knowing more about the food judging process.

Description:

IFACE, Insurance and Financial Advisers Continuing Education, is an annual gathering of financial advisers from around the state who want to learn the latest techniques, trends, tax updates and strategies that apply to their work.

The courses offered at this annual conference provide broad information of universal applicability and targeted sessions that address specific topics.

Description:
The conference will take place Friday, April 25 at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Hays. K-State Research and Extension will sponsor the event along with the Northwest Kansas Area Agency on Aging and Fort Hays State University, Dept. of Health & Human Performance.

Keynote speakers will include Jeff Burnett, assistant professor at Fort Hays State University, who will talk on being realistic about your health at any age, and Angel Shaver, the 2013 Ms. Wheelchair Kansas, who will speak on maintaining a positive and thankful attitude.

 
Target Audience:
The conference is open to older adults, their families and caregivers. A professional track is also offered.
