The Navigating Difference workshop is designed to assist Extension professionals expand their skills in working with diverse audiences.
 
Participants can expect the workshop to provide:
  • A set of skills to enhance work with diverse audiences
  • A solid foundation in intercultural communications theory and practice and
  • Opportunities to apply new learning

This professional development training is for all K-State Research and Extension personnel. The goals are to assist participants in:

~ examining how our personal and organizational cultures affect our ability to work across difference in both negative and positive ways; and
~ building skills to increase competencies as we work with others who are different from us.

Description:

The overall goal of this project is to provide a comprehensive training program about soil health with specific applications to vegetable cropping. The project team includes Megan Kennelly (Plant Pathology), Cary Rivard (Horticulture), DeAnn Presley (Agronomy), and Raymond Cloyd (Entomology). Kim Oxley is coordinating many aspects of the program and can be reached at koxley@ksu.edu. This day-long hands-on workshop will be offered in 3 locations (NE/NC/SW) in 2016 and 3 locations in 2017 (SE/SC/NW locations and dates TBD). For southwest KS, the date is Oct 5, 2016.

The primary audience is county agriculture and horticulture agents
