Description:
This highly interactive, hands-on educational event will be a fun filled day of activities in which youth, parents, swine project leaders and adults can increase their knowledge and experience of swine production and management practices.  Presentations and demonstrations will be give by K-State graduate students and faculty as well as a keynote speaker.  All participants will receive a K-State Show Pig Guide, t-shirt, and a complimentary noon lunch.

 The Navigating Difference training is designed to assist Extension professionals expand their skills in working with diverse audiences.  Participants can expect this training to provide:
  • A set of skills to enhance your work with diverse audiences
  • A solid foundation in intercultural communications theory and practice
  • Opportunities to apply new learning in your work.

This training is based on a set of cultural competencies and creates a safe and welcoming environment for all learners with activities that respect and support individual learning styles.  Participants' life experiences are viewed as an important source of knowledge.

Description:
The program development training for new agents is an introduction to program planning, implementation, and evaluation. This is an opportunity to learn about and sharpen existing action plans and to hone the outcomes to audience needs. This will be accomplished by dividing participants into teams, each team choosing a program action plan, and then creating and delivering a presentation to a "funder or program decision maker" based on local needs and the anticipated positive changes to clientele.
