KAHPERD has 1,500 members in the health, physical education, recreation and dance professions.Their vision is to be the leading advocate in the state of Kansas in promoting healthy, active lifestyles. Their mission is to promote and advocate for healthy, active Kansans. The two-day KAHPERD Convention Program is held annually in Kansas, typically in late October or early November.

Description:

The 2015 RAM workshop is a one-day meeting which integrates understanding of government programs (new Farm Bill with ARC, PLC and SCO), crop insurance, and marketing tools such as futures, options and forward contracts. 

This project utilizes a case study, with producers managing a typical grain farm during an upcoming marketing year, making marketing decisions using various insurance, futures, and options alternatives and the ARC, PLC and SCO programs. Participants will have the opportunity to select type and level of crop insurance, decide on ACRE program participation, and then work through a typical grain marketing year, with four marketing opportunities, making use of risk-management tools such as futures, options, forward contracts, and basis contracts.


There are no pre-requisites and no continuing education credit is available.

Target Audience:
Grain producers, livestock producers, ag lenders, and extension personnel.

The 2014 Insurance Workshop is a one-day workshop in Salina, Kansas on Thursday, November 13. The workshop will feature the following topics:  World economic outlook; 2013 farm bill; Grain market update; RMA update, including crop insurance changes; Common land unit acreage reporting plan; Land values and rents; and Drought, politics and risk management policy.

There are no pre-requisites. Continuing education credit through the Kansas Insurance Department is available (6 hours PC; 2 hours CRP).

Women involved in agriculture are invited to the Fall 2014 Women in Ag educational session Thursday, November 13, in Salina, KS.

The speaker this fall is Mark Wood. He will present Farm Financial Challenges. Mark is an Association Economist with K-State Research and Extension Northwest Kansas Farm Management Association. After Mark’s talk, participants will hear a panel discussion on options for agriculture financing.

If you are a woman involved in agriculture, or are interested in learning more, plan to attend this free Women in Ag program at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 743 E. Magnolia, Salina, KS. Registration begins at 6 p.m. followed by the meeting at 6:30 pm. Drinks and dessert will be served. Pre-registration is requested.
